Is this a known symptom of Apple trying to thwart use of Little Snitch and similar services and software? Is it conceivable that they have now started to disable (=intentionally break) certain (popular) processes (i.e. Question 3: Apple has in the past force-disabled Little Snitch (moved it to a folder named something along the line of 'Unsupported Software'). Question 2: Does anyone have similar issues?

Question 1: Any suggestions as to how to resolve this?

  • Allowing all gamed connections (see above) and then re-enabling Little Snitch (Network Filter ='On') does not change the behaviour: iTunes still stalls.
  • Note: In the past I completely blocked all traffic for gamed, but for the time being I decided to only block the ones
  • I have triple-checked the Rules in Little Snitch and softened/deleted some Apple-related rules and, currently, the only connections I have denied are for 'SpotlightNetHelper' () and 'gamed' (17.155.127.222+223, ports 16384 to 16386).

    Disabling Little Snitch by setting the Network Filter to 'Off' immediately solves the issue: I receive the 'This computer is already authorized' message and iTunes Store content appears just fine, as is the TV Show episode which can be downloaded as expected.The same behaviour occurs also when trying to 'Quit' iTunes.'Tab' or invoking 'Check for Available Downloads…' from the 'Store' menu), iTunes will stop responding and the Beachball of Death appears. When I look for an advertised new episode of a purchased TV Show or try to access the iTunes store in any other way (clicking on the resp.while Little Snitch is running, I don't receive any response or notification to executing this menu command. When trying to 'Authorize This Computer…', nothing seems to happen … i.e.Media files removed manually to conserve space correctly display the '!' (exclamation mark in a circle). With Little Snitch's Network Filter switched to 'On', iTunes will load and show files/assets known to the iTunes Database.The latest issue surfaced when I tried to use iTunes 12.3.2 with a El Capitan 10.11.3** after having updated Little Snitch to 3.6.3:
